Performance by Mara Ravins and Caroline Mardon (Static Interference) and Simon Jacobs on violin, part of Actor’s Lab “Kooltouraid”, May 18, 1982 and Toronto Danceworks Workshop.

This performance is about Static Interference’s experience with the creative process using four chapters with violin accompaniment. For example, in the excerpt from Chapter 4: Caroline is seated on a ladder wearing a tutu and a black sequin jacket. Mara feeds her Gaughin reproductions with a long fork, which Caroline eats with increasing appetite. Caroline then defecates the primary colours onto a canvas which is promptly displayed. Mara removes Caroline’s jacket to reveal cheap underwear. She unrolls a bolt of white paper, forces Caroline down onto it and rolls her away. In the epilogue, Mara and Caroline begin to mop up their mess to the tunes on the transistor radio with the full house lights on.
