I have been photographing for over 30 years, still loving my trusty Nikon FE for black and white film, the thrill of an image appearing on the negative, slow photography. I am also excited about the digital possibilities, slowly embracing this new process, the old and new together.

Taking a photograph allows me to dwell longer in the mystery of something that has seduced me.  Seduced - I spontaneously gather impressions when I have been inexplicably moved, enticed, awed, disrupted.  When I enlarge the details of a photograph – I deconstruct the gestures, reflections, lines, shadows, moods until the image begins to unravel its mystery  - revealing a meaning =  toward becoming an expression of some form of truth.

Desire, sorrow, loss, anger, fear, despair, exaltation, serenity.  Creating a photograph is exploring a fleeting form, reflecting these passions into something beyond the raw force of emotion and feeling, allowing me to communicate in a different manner, different language, in an attempt to extend beyond the personal out toward the universal.

What is revealed and what is concealed?  What are these traces, fragments, impressions that linger through time passing?  I seek these moments of beauty and vitality through the sacred, dear and ordinary within human experience, that I long to hold, if only as an impression of a memory, defying time and history as we know it.
